Classification of bridge bearings

Bridge bearings can be divided into many types according to their working principles and specific functions:
According to the possibility of deformation:
Fixed support: fixed between the bridge and the foundation, does not allow any horizontal displacement of the bridge, mainly used to bear vertical load and some relatively small horizontal load.
Movable bearings: including one-way movable bearings and multi-way movable bearings, which can allow the bridge to move freely in the horizontal direction, and are suitable for bridges that need to withstand deformation and temperature changes.
According to the materials used:
Steel bearing: the rolling, shaking and sliding of steel parts to achieve the displacement and rotation function of the bearing, strong bearing capacity, can adapt to the needs of the displacement and rotation of the bridge, suitable for railway bridges.
PTFE bearing (sliding bearing): with sliding function, suitable for bridges that require horizontal displacement.
Rubber bearings: including plate rubber bearings and basin-type rubber bearings, etc., are made of multi-layer rubber sheets and thin steel plates inlaid and bonded, with good elasticity and small building height, suitable for small and medium-span bridges. Among them, the pot-type rubber bearing is a new bridge bearing composed of steel components and rubber, which has the characteristics of large bearing capacity, large horizontal displacement and flexible rotation, and is suitable for long-span bridges with bearing capacity of more than 1000KN.
According to the structure form:
Arc support: change the plane contact of the upper and lower pendulum of the flat support to arc surface contact, the reaction force can be concentrated and transmitted, and the beam end can rotate freely, but it still needs to overcome the large friction resistance during expansion and contraction, so it is still only suitable for beams with small span.
Shake shaft support: It is composed of an upper pendulum, a bottom plate and a roller between the two, which can meet the requirements of the movable support, but the greater the supporting reaction force, the larger the diameter of the roller (shake shaft) is correspondingly required. This makes the height of the support become very large.
Roller bearing: can meet the requirements of the movable bearing, because the reaction force is pressed on the bottom plate through a number of roller shafts, so the diameter of the roller can be reduced with the increase of its number, the reaction force can also be dispersed and evenly distributed to the pier pad stone surface, suitable for all kinds of large bridges.
Spherical support: provides greater freedom and adaptability, suitable for bridges of various spans.
In addition, there are some special bearings, such as seismic isolation bearings, which provide additional seismic functions and are suitable for bridges in earthquake-prone areas.
